What the ordinance requires
Adopted in 2021 after the Surfside collapse, Ordinance 21-054 requires periodic structural and façade inspections of multi-story buildings — performed by a New Jersey–licensed architect or professional engineer and filed with the City of Jersey City.

- Buildings with a masonry façade four (4) or more stories tall
- Façade inspections run on a 5-year cycle (initial reports were due Dec 31, 2023)
- A separate structural inspection applies to concrete buildings over six stories
