Jersey City Façade Ordinance 21-054 — Compliance & Remediation

Buildings more than 6 stories — or masonry façades 4 or more stories — must pass a periodic façade inspection. Lakeview handles the cleaning, sealing, repointing, and hazard repair it requires.

Whether an inspection already flagged a façade condition to repair, or you're getting ahead of your next 5-year cycle — we handle the cleaning, sealing, repointing, and hazard removal it takes to pass.

What the ordinance requires

Adopted in 2021 after the Surfside collapse, Ordinance 21-054 requires periodic structural and façade inspections of multi-story buildings — performed by a New Jersey–licensed architect or professional engineer and filed with the City of Jersey City.

  • Buildings more than six (6) stories tall
  • Buildings with a masonry façade four (4) or more stories tall
  • Façade inspections run on a 5-year cycle (initial reports were due Dec 31, 2023)
  • A separate structural inspection applies to concrete buildings over six stories

Where Lakeview comes in

We handle the remediation a façade inspection triggers — and coordinate the licensed inspection. We don't sign the inspection report; we do the work it requires, with high-reach access (rope, lift, and drone survey).

  • Façade cleaning
  • Sealing & waterproofing
  • Brick pointing / repointing
  • Caulking & joint sealants
  • Loose-material & hazard removal
  • Protective coatings
